Crossy’s Football Bio:
I spent all of my youth football playing for Trawden Celtic with a group of lads who mainly grew up and went to school together. Starting out in midfield and slowly shuffled backwards to centre half and I ended up in goal when an unfortune injury to our goalkeeper in training left the manager asking for volunteers. That volunteer was me- 3 MOTM later I was given the choice of going back outfield and maybe having to rotate within the squad, or stay in goal…..and the rest is history!
Entering high school I was selected for the school team and offer to trial for the Pendle district team for which I was successful- playing alongside some very talented players we reached the Final & semi final in subsequent years but unfortunately fell short both seasons. following this success I was selected for the Lancashire County schoolboys.
After playing a number of years in the senior team at Trawden Celtic I was offered the change to join Colne Fc reserves and helped them to a league & cup double in our first season ending the clubs long wait for silverware, the following season we repeated the achievement and secured the ‘Double double’. Due to injuries and illnesses I played a handful of games in the Colne Fc team squad of 2015-16 which gained promotion to the then ‘Evo-stick north’ following their title winning campaign in the North West Counties Premier division. After leaving Colne I played for a number of local Semi professional clubs: Nelson, Padiham, Barnoldswick & then to Steeton where I became the first club player in their semi professional history to receive league honours by securing the leagues ‘Goalkeeper of the month’ in December 2019.
Recent years have led me back to enjoying football with my mates at Trawden Celtic and last year securing another league and cup double by winning the East Lancashire football league division 1 title whilst only conceding 6 league goal in the season. The same year I was also playing for Colne FC vets team who won the inaugural Veterans Country Cup at the LFA headquarters beating Bamber Bridge vets 3-1.
Crossy’s Coaching Bio:
My former GK coach at Colne put me in contact with Kersh who was working with Asmir Begovic and running his AB1 GK camp in Burnley after learning lots from Kersh after 12 months, Kersh and I decided to leave after seeing ourselves and AB1 were on different paths. Despite being given the opportunity to fill Kersh’s boots with AB1 following him leaving. After discussions with Kersh we decided to create ELGA to offer coaching to the young goalkeepers in East Lancashire, a decision which proved to be correct with the success of the academy going from strength to strength in such a short period of time.
